NAPLES, Fla. (December XX, 2022) – Naples Community Orchestra (NCO) has released its 2023 performance schedule. The three programs were thoughtfully assembled by Alvin Ho, the new artistic director at NCO and who also serves as assistant conductor with the Naples Philharmonic. The season series is influenced by the community partnerships the orchestra has forged with Artis—Naples, Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and Collier County Public Schools (CCPS). The orchestra welcomes the participation of student musicians from both FGCU and CCPS high schools. NCO’s partnership with Artis—Naples provides musicians for conducting, sectional rehearsals, soloists, and rehearsal and event space. All concerts will be Saturday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. at Moorings Presbyterian Church, located at 791 Harbour Drive in Naples. A reception will follow each concert 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
“We look forward to welcoming our fans to our concert season, as we celebrate our 30th year of providing classical music to the Naples community,” said Janice Jack, president of the NCO board of directors.
The season opener is Saturday, January 21 and will feature music from Mozart. In addition, the orchestra will perform a piece by Ari Fisher reflecting the theme of hope, poignancy and recovery which was commissioned and sponsored by Barbara Lounsbury, a longtime leader within the NCO. On Saturday, March 4, the second concert will include light classics from Johann Strauss as well as Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms. In addition, the show will feature Bella Gutshtein on piano for Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring. The final show on Saturday, April 22 will include Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture. In addition, the concert will feature Adam Satinsky on cello for Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme.
